VBS 2017 is coming!! Click HERE for more information!

We are dedicated to a partnership with parents to lead their children in the exploration of Christian faith.  We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where all children are introduced to God and His love for them, laying the foundation to help then make Christian education decisions.

First Farragut UMC is a community working to be transformed through prayer, scripture, worship, and study.  As children explore God’s word and love for all of us, our goal is to guide them along the transformative path towards Him.

Our focus verse for our Children’s Ministry is Jeremiah 29:13:

When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me.”(CEB)

Here are a few ways we work together to help children explore what Christian faith looks and feels like to them:

Nursery – Our nursery staff and volunteers are so happy to see your children!  We provide childcare for children from birth to age 5 during all worship services and most events.  We do encourage children to participate at any and all events, including worship, when the parent feels it is appropriate.

We also invite you to check out our “Travelers Ministry” and what specifically we have to offer for our preschoolers throughout the week.

"Godly Play" - During both worship services, children ages 3 through 2nd grade are invited to go with their leader after the Children’s Message to our downstairs Chapel and participate in Godly Play. Based on the Montessori Method, Godly Play uses a careful telling of the scripture stories, engaging story figures and a variety of creative activities to encourage children to seek and find their own answers to their faith questions.

Sunday School – There are classes for children ages birth thru 5th grade.  We meet Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. downstairs throughout the children’s wing.  Each class has age-appropriate curriculum and awesome teachers who can’t wait to meet your child!

Age-specific ministries:

Travelers Ministry (Birth through Pre-k)- We believe that our children are learning from the first day they enter this world.

We work to begin their transformative exploration as early as their time in the nursery.  To do to this, we incorporate our curriculum for every meeting time (i.e. Sunday school, Wednesday nights, etc.) into their time with us.  From singing Bible songs, reading books, and play time with adults, these travelers learn from an early age that the church is a safe place to explore.

The 2-years-olds through Pre-K have their own age-appropriate curriculum with a welcoming staff and volunteers to help guide them.  During Sunday school, Wednesday night music and rotation ministry, Godly Play, and other annual activities, we aim to help these small followers of Christ to feel like they have a place in the church.

Voyagers Ministry (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade) - We believe that our children are exploring what it means in everyday life to be a Christian early on.  We want them to feel comfortable asking questions and going deeper.  To prepare them for that next step, we use age-appropriate curriculum that includes crafts, videos, music, and games to teach them to explore their way through the Bible.

In addition to our weekly meetings, our annual and special events aim to help these "voyagers" take those next crucial steps through their faith journey.

Discoverers Ministry (3rd through 5th Grade) - As our students prepare to head into the youth group and take on a new set of life challenges as they enter into middle and high school, we want to make sure they are prepared.  By this point, we hope they have covered the basics and feel comfortable asking the difficult questions and answering them with the voices of their own hearts.  We want their relationship with Christ to be their own.

Through our age-appropriate curriculum and activities, we hope our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders realize how proud of them we are, and just how much we will miss them as they move out of our “nest.”  We want them to feel the support and love of their children’s "wing family" so that when the time comes to move on, they do it with security and confidence.

We spend our last few years with our children really striving for something deeper and enjoying shared experiences that will carry into their next stage of life.

Third Grade Bible Lock-In - Within weeks of our third graders receiving their new Bibles from the church family during morning worship, eager learners gather to spend the night in the church while learning to use their Bibles.  Team members help provide meals, overnight chaperoning, learning activities, recreation, and celebration of inquisitive minds.

Special Events – We have monthly special events and parties that can always be found in the weekly church bulletin, church newsletter, and on our website and church Facebook page.

Annual Events - Some of our annual events include:  Trunk-or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, and a Children's Day celebration unlike any you have ever seen!  Click here to RSVP for upcoming events.

"KidCheck" and Safe Sanctuaries:

FFUMC is concerned about the safety of all children and youth.

For our Children's programs, we utilize the "KidCheck" system for checking in our children.

If you would like to create or edit your "KidCheck" account, please click here.

First Farragut is committed to being a "Safe Sanctuary" for each of God's children.  As part of the Body of Christ, we seek to ensure we have caring, Christ-like role models for all ministries directly and indirectly associated with our church. Ministries under the auspices of, and/or endorsed by FFUMC, will comply with or exceed United Methodist standards and recommendations for best practices for safety and programming guidelines:

  • All volunteer and paid workers will complete Safe Sanctuaries training before being allowed to work with children and youth on a regular basis.
  • All volunteer and paid workers will have completed and passed a national background check.
  • Children and youth will be supervised by two unrelated adults.  If only one is in the classroom your child is in, there will be a floater in the hallway monitoring the class.
  • Safe Sanctuaries training will be held every few months.  Stay tuned to the bulletin for dates and details.
